There's much to see here. So, take your time, look around, and learn all there is to know about the SCEPTRE programme of research. We hope you enjoy our site.
SCEPTRE aims to develop and test an intervention to support adults with severe mental illness after discharge to continue with the positive changes they have made to their smoking habits while in hospital.
We will draw on theories from psychology, build on evidence published from other research, and the use the knowledge of mental health professionals who engage and work with adults smokers with severe mental illness. Most importantly we will be guided by people with lived experience of using these mental health services.
The result will be an intervention that will offer evidence based support to allow people with severe mental illness to change their smoking behaviour and improve their physical and mental health.
This project is funded by the NIHR Programme Grant for Applied Research (NIHR200607]. The views expressed are those of the author(s) and not necessarily those of the NIHR or the Department of Health and Social Care.
We are a large UK-based team of team of researchers, NHS mental health clinicians, and other experts in mental health and smoking cessation who are committed to improving people's physical and mental health through conducting research, improving existing services, and training professionals.
From the first glimmer of an idea, SCEPTRE has been developed in partnership with patients and the people who support them. They have, to name only a few, guided our prioritisation of research questions, the development of research programme, designing the intervention, and have advised on ways to minimise participant burden.
